How to Style Your Shape (continued…)

Hey everybody! Here again is another installment of my series of how to dress for your particular body shape!

Our focus today is the ruler shape!

RULER

Women who have the ruler body-type have an athletic, lean build with fewer curves and more of a straight up-and-down figure. These women are similar to runway models, who can wear almost anything. However, the objective of a ruler create contours and to heighten her femininity by creating a defined waist.

  • Structured jackets
  • Flare-cut and pencil skirts
  • Baby-doll blouses (feminine touches!)
  • Belts and vests that create a defined waist

OH-NO’s

  • Bolero jackets
  • Short-waisted tops (bisects the figure and minimizes curves!)
  • Vertical lines that accentuate the ruler shape

Dress: Halter tops with full skirts. And any style with a v-neck and a dropped waist

Jeans: Low-rise with pocket detail to create some definition in that booty. But to be quite honest, any style of jean works for your body type! (you lucky girl…)

Bathing suits: String bikinis or lightly padded or underwire tops to enhance the bust. Anything with ruching, ruffles, or embellishments. If you rock a tankini, buy one that is color blocked (in season!) to define your waist.
