Super-Stylized: Ironman

Here’s to another edition of Super Stylized! Today our focus is on Tony Stark’s iconic Ironman. As we all recall, Tony Stark lives in the lap of luxury with the finest clothes. So I thought to myself: if Tony Stark was a girl, how would she accessorize? TO THE MAX! I wanted to use the color scheme of gold and red – a combination that I have rarely tried myself, but I find to be quite a lovely pairing. The bow detailing on the top definitely says classy and sophisticated. And since it has more of a looser feel to it, I paired it with a dark red pencil skirt to balance the look. And since Miss Tonita Stark would have the finest of accessories, I gave her a Marc Jacobs red and gold watch and added some additional bangles of the same color scheme so that she can mix and match them any way she pleases. I don’t know about you, but I simply LOVE mixing and matching different bangles and bracelets to create an interesting pile of color and pattern down my arm. Just to not push the red/gold envelope too much, I opted for a simple black pump to finish it off. I hope you enjoy!

Fab Finds! Abs-olutely amazing!

Hello all! Time for some more Fab Finds…but this time I am discussing a Fab Find that belongs in my Health/Fitness category. Below is a list of ab exercises I found on that has 200 different exercises with added video instruction on how to perform them. Cool, right? When it comes to working out, I always make myself do at least 2 things: cardio and an ab circuit. Your abs are part of your core, and are very important in supporting the rest of your body while it completes everyday tasks and workouts. I try to create different combinations of these moves (one for lower and upper abs, and obliques) every day in order to keep my body guessing and to achieve the results I want. Try them out for yourself! Just click the picture below of the screenshot and it should take you to the website.

As always, have a lovely day!

Super-Stylized: The Hulk

Yet another edition of Super-Stylized! Today’s superhero inspiration is the Hulk! I decided to mix this look up a bit and throw the Hulk for a loop. The Hulk is all about being angry and in a rage. So what I did was I chose an A-line skirt and a fitted purple top to not only mix up his original color orientation, but also to make him very feminine and pretty. To accompany the top and bottom I chose a cork-wedge sandal in brown leather to recreate that earthy-quality the Hulk has and finished it off with gold and emerald accessories to mirror the Hulk’s dark green hair.

Super-Stylized: Batman

Hello my lovelies!
Here is the second edition of my Super-Stylized series. This time we tackle one of the biggest, most popular superheroes today, the Dark Knight! Seeing the Christian Bale version of Batman, his costume is very sharp and angular. So with this look, I stuck to a cocktail look with a structured black dress that is enhanced by some sharp statement accessories that embody that angular motif throughout the look.

Basic Rules for Good Nutrition

Maintaining a healthy weight and good health does not in any way have to be an arduous process…not unless you make it so. Having good nutrition is as easy as making small, easy changes to your daily routine that will reap HUGE benefits in the long-run for your overall health and well-being.

Eat breakfast!

I cannot stress this enough…I hear so many times from people who are struggling to maintain a healthy diet and weight that they do not eat a good, balanced breakfast. Whether the excuse it that you think you’re not hungry yet or you do not have the time, you MUST eat breakfast at some point soon after you wake up. Breakfast is literally “breaking the fast” of your sleep, allowing the engine known as your metabolism to use that food as fuel to power your body for the day. Trust me, you’ll feel a whole lot better and more energized overall if you follow this tip.

Snack with purpose!

A lot of us hear the word “snacking” and think back to that bag of chips or that chocolate bar that we had because we wanted to satisfy a craving. Snacking should be done purposefully – meaning that the reason you snack is because your body is actually asking for it, so that you can fill in the gaps between your main meals of the day. By doing so, you keep your metabolism running constantly.

Portion control is key!

PORTIONS PEOPLE! That is the key to your nutritional success. Some people claim to eat nothing but the best foods, but if they are still overweight, that says that they are not properly proportioning their food, resulting in weight gain. Here’s a quick tip…use smaller bowls and plates! Sure it sounds silly, but it really does help!

Watch those drinks

I can’t tell you how many calories we consume through liquids alone. With all of these sodas, fraps, lattes, energy drinks, and alcohol we are consuming waaaaay more calories than we should. If you are a diehard fan of your Starbucks, and cannot bear to let it go, try to treat yourself maybe once a week. For the rest of the week, however, opt for water or seltzer. Seltzer has definitely helped me break my diet soda addiction. More than a year strong! Also…if you consume diet sodas, you must take into account the fact that what you are putting into your body is just as worse as the caloric soda. The chemicals you are putting into your body serve no purpose for your physical well-being, whereas water does.

Eat less processed foods, GO ORGANIC!

If you are addicted to those heaven-sent 100 calorie-packs from the grocery store, try to put them aside for more fresh, organic foods. Foods in wrappers that have been mostly processed contain a lot of sodium, which will leave you dehydrated and unsatisfied in the long-term. If you go for more organic foods, you will feel a lot more satiated more often.

Alrighty everyone! Hope you take these tips and put them in your back-pocket for safe-keeping…they will really help better your physical and mental well-being. Trust me, they really will. 😉

As always, have a lovely day!

Foods For a Longer Life

Your body is your temple. (A phrase we hear a lot when it comes to food). But in the long-run, this saying definitely holds true. If you fill your body with the wrong things, you are setting yourself up for a more miserable way of living in the future. However, if you stick to a healthy balance in your diet and use food more as fuel for your body rather than a luxury, then you will extend your life expectancy and live a longer, much happier life. Trust me. Here are some foods that can help you in your journey of a healthier, longer life.

Green Tea

Teas are the perfect source of antioxidants that lead to lower body weights and waistlines. Why? It is said to increase your metabolic rate.

Vampires beware! Italians…rejoice! Garlic produces a chemical called allicin that acts as a defense against pests, but inside in your body it fights cancer, strengthens your cardiovascular system, decreases fat storage, and fights acne inflammation.

The grapefruit-a-day philosophy is a great way to shed poundage while extending your life expectancy! Even a moderate increase in grapefruit intake should yield results, not to mention earn you a massive dose of the cancer-preventing antioxidant, lycopene.

Greek Yogurt

Greek yogurt is different from regular yogurt because it has been strained to remove excessive sugars and increase the concentration of protein by as much as three times. This means that you will feel fuller longer and will be more satiated.

Don’t fear fats, people! Avocado is one of the healthiest sources of fat out there that are definitely beneficial to your body! The healthy fats in avocados are known as monounsaturated fats. They are known to improve your cholesterol profile and decrease the amount of triglycerides (fats) in your blood. That can lower your risk of stroke and heart disease.

Eggs are the perfect breakfast that is packed with protein and loads of vital nutrients.

Quinoa contains more nutrients than any grain you could find. It has about twice as much fiber and protein as brown rice, and those proteins have the perfect blend of amino acids, the building blocks that your body uses to create new proteins in your body.

Bell Peppers

All peppers are loaded with antioxidants. The range of benefits provided by these colorful pigments include improved immune function, better communication between cells, protection against sun damage, and a diminished risk for several types of cancer.

Almonds contain the heart-healthy oleic acid which is known to be responsible for a flurry of health benefits, the most recent of which is improved memory.

As always, have a lovely day!

Super-Stylized: Spider-man

Another week of inspiration from the most unexpected places. This week our theme day for the camp I work at for the summer was Superhero Day! Seeing all of the kids all dressed to perfection in their capes and masks really inspired me to create outfits that embodied the essence of some of our favorite supers…first off (my personal fave), SPIDER-MAN!

Stretch jewelry
I decided to go for a more laid-back sort of look for Spider-man. The first piece I chose was the cobalt blue skinny jeans…which are adoooorable by the way, and totally on my own wishlist. 😉 But since I have such a fitted jean, I opted for a looser red top to balance that. And of course, you can’t go wrong with some statement jewelry. Necklace is so bold and striking. And the intricate combination of all of the different elements within the necklace makes it look almost spiderweb-like. The spider ring may make the whole “Spider-man” thing very obvious, but statement rings are my weakness! I cannot deny them! To finish it off, I chose a platform black sandal. The way that the sandal was constructed reminds me of spiderwebs. However, this hint of spiderweb isn’t blatantly obvious, yet it is suggested by the construction of the sandal.

Hope you have enjoyed this look!

And as always, have a lovely day!
