Fab Finds! Victoria’s Secret Dresses!

Oh my goodness gracious! The new Fall line of dresses on the Victoria’s Secret website are in and OH MY GOSH. I simply adore them. I have bought many dresses from Victoria’s Secret online before, since the sizing is very straight forward and they are never too big or too small for me. For once, a site that sells dresses that actually fit. That’s innovation, right there. But seriously, I have been searching the selection and I have more than a few pics that are going to be put on my wishlist. Besides, I’m going to be 21 in October. I need some ideas on what I’m going to ask for! So why not a snazzy dress! A good quote to keep in your back-pocket ladies, you can never have enough dresses.

Printed Full-Skirt Dress – $88

Colorblock Slim Dress – $59.50

Bell-sleeve Dress – $69.50

Open-back Lace Dress – $79.50

Can I just say that…this lace dress is absolutely stunning and…I seriously really really really have been eying it for a year. Thank GOD they brought it back for the Fall! Now I need to stop spending money to save up. Oh curse my shopping addiction!

There are a few picks of my favorite Victoria’s Secret new Fall dress collection. If you can’t already tell, I am DYING to get my hands on that black lace number. It would be amazing for any holiday event this year. And plus…the only thing I am missing in my wardrobe (at least clothes that are visible to the public eye) is lace. One day…one day. As soon as I get over my addiction to A-line skirts…and belts…and big rings…

As always, have a lovely day!

Super-Stylized: Ironman

Here’s to another edition of Super Stylized! Today our focus is on Tony Stark’s iconic Ironman. As we all recall, Tony Stark lives in the lap of luxury with the finest clothes. So I thought to myself: if Tony Stark was a girl, how would she accessorize? TO THE MAX! I wanted to use the color scheme of gold and red – a combination that I have rarely tried myself, but I find to be quite a lovely pairing. The bow detailing on the top definitely says classy and sophisticated. And since it has more of a looser feel to it, I paired it with a dark red pencil skirt to balance the look. And since Miss Tonita Stark would have the finest of accessories, I gave her a Marc Jacobs red and gold watch and added some additional bangles of the same color scheme so that she can mix and match them any way she pleases. I don’t know about you, but I simply LOVE mixing and matching different bangles and bracelets to create an interesting pile of color and pattern down my arm. Just to not push the red/gold envelope too much, I opted for a simple black pump to finish it off. I hope you enjoy!

Super-Stylized: The Hulk

Yet another edition of Super-Stylized! Today’s superhero inspiration is the Hulk! I decided to mix this look up a bit and throw the Hulk for a loop. The Hulk is all about being angry and in a rage. So what I did was I chose an A-line skirt and a fitted purple top to not only mix up his original color orientation, but also to make him very feminine and pretty. To accompany the top and bottom I chose a cork-wedge sandal in brown leather to recreate that earthy-quality the Hulk has and finished it off with gold and emerald accessories to mirror the Hulk’s dark green hair.

Super-Stylized: Batman

Hello my lovelies!
Here is the second edition of my Super-Stylized series. This time we tackle one of the biggest, most popular superheroes today, the Dark Knight! Seeing the Christian Bale version of Batman, his costume is very sharp and angular. So with this look, I stuck to a cocktail look with a structured black dress that is enhanced by some sharp statement accessories that embody that angular motif throughout the look.

Super-Stylized: Spider-man

Another week of inspiration from the most unexpected places. This week our theme day for the camp I work at for the summer was Superhero Day! Seeing all of the kids all dressed to perfection in their capes and masks really inspired me to create outfits that embodied the essence of some of our favorite supers…first off (my personal fave), SPIDER-MAN!

I decided to go for a more laid-back sort of look for Spider-man. The first piece I chose was the cobalt blue skinny jeans…which are adoooorable by the way, and totally on my own wishlist. 😉 But since I have such a fitted jean, I opted for a looser red top to balance that. And of course, you can’t go wrong with some statement jewelry. Necklace is so bold and striking. And the intricate combination of all of the different elements within the necklace makes it look almost spiderweb-like. The spider ring may make the whole “Spider-man” thing very obvious, but statement rings are my weakness! I cannot deny them! To finish it off, I chose a platform black sandal. The way that the sandal was constructed reminds me of spiderwebs. However, this hint of spiderweb isn’t blatantly obvious, yet it is suggested by the construction of the sandal.

Hope you have enjoyed this look!

Embrace the Color Wheel!

Wowzers! I haven’t been blogging for a while…sorry about that! Work has taken quite a toll on me and I am definitely feeling it. But now that I have a quiet Sunday all to myself, I am going to get back to what I love.

So today, we are going to talk about a great way to spice up your outfits and to really make them stand out and pop. Embracing the color wheel.

Remember this nifty little chart from your elementary school art class? Its purpose is not solely to be in the classroom! This wheel can serve as an essential tool for any fashionista who is looking to make an impact with her outfit. Another fancy term for this utilization of the color wheel is color blocking. Sound familiar? It’s one of the hottest trends today! What to keep in mind is that there are 5 different combinations that you can use when assembling colors in your outfits.

  1. Colors directly next to each other (example: red and orange)
  2. Colors that form 90 degree angles with each other (example: yellow and red-orange)
  3. Colors directly across from each other (example: blue and orange)
  4. Colors that form a T (example: blue, orange, and violet-red)
  5. Colors that form an X (example: yellow, blue-green, violet, and red-orange)

Notice that our neutrals aren’t on this color wheel? Colors like brown, black, white, and hues of blue denim go with nearly any color.

Here are some celeb examples of color blocking. Can you tell what combination each one is doing?

Fab Finds at T.J. Maxx!

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a lovely hump-day. The weekend is now within our grasp! Have you ever gone to a store to try on clothes just for fun? I most certainly have…on multiple occasions. Even though you may get some dirty looks from the staff who manages the dressing rooms, trying on clothes just for enjoyment is quite a blast!

After work today I dilly-dallied over to my trusty T.J. Maxx and pulled out my inner Maxxinista and got to work. I am in LOVE with the dresses you can find there. Aside from Forever21, which is the store I buy most of my dresses, some of my absolute best dresses that I get the most compliments on come from there. They carry designer names for extremely low prices! Who can deny such a deal? So during my adventure through T.J. Maxx I stumbled upon some contenders…so sad to know that they will not be coming home with me. But still…taking pictures can hold the memory. 🙂

Of course I had to try on yet ANOTHER, as my boss calls them, “Rachel Berry dress”. I have a thing for polka dots and A-line cut skirts. The top was fitted and had gold metal buttons going down the top while the skirt flared out into an A-line, making it easy-breezy to wear. The top also had some cute short-sleeve cuffs that highlight smaller shoulders. SUPER CUTE!

Oh yes…any sort of dress with an opening in the back I am all for. Really, I would even go for a backless dress if I had the right occasion. I think the back is a beautiful part of the body to show off that most people don’t even think about showing. Especially if you are athletic and have some sexy muscles to show, flaunt it! This dress had a lower-back opening, so I won’t be able to flaunt any sort of back muscle there, but again, the A-line skirt and the fitted top was definitely made with a pear-shaped girl in mind. The pattern was cutsie and I never thought purple and orange would go together, but they are meshed together in this dress so well! Never let your inhibitions prevent you from experimenting with color! Mixing and matching colors in outfits is a great way to express yourself and your personality through your individual style choices.

Okay…this might be the one that broke me a bit. I ADORED this dress when I put it on. The material was an easy jersey, making it comfortable to wear and easy to move around in. And plus…it had POCKETS! I mean come on… that lone fact that the dress had pockets nearly made me break my promise not to buy anything that day. It was so perfect…and only about $14. But what really grabbed me about this dress was the pattern. The blue and purple flowers contrast so beautifully with the black background of the fabric. It certainly gives the look some pop-factor!

So those are my Fab FInds from T.J. Maxx! I hope you’ve enjoyed these looks! I certainly did. I secretly want to go back tomorrow and buy one. I am having the opposite of shoppers remorse…

Quick question of the day (I’d REALLY appreciate it if I had your input and commented on this post). If I were to go back to buy one of these three dresses, which one should I choose? (If you are wondering what they are price-wise, they range from $14-$20).

As always, have a lovely day!

Sharp Styles For Your Beau…(courtesy of Banana Republic!)

Hello lovelies! I apologize for being a little out of touch this past week. My boyfriend surprised me and came to Massachusetts all the way from NYC to stay for the week, so as you can imagine I haven’t been creating any new content lately. But since we are long overdue for a post, I have decided to write about a subject that is relevant to what I’ve been up to lately. So without further ado, let’s get going!

While enjoying each others’ company this week, we were caught in a not-so-awesome stormy day. So what did we do? Go to South Shore Plaza of course!

File:Inside South Shore Plaza, Braintree MA.jpg

South Shore Plaza is one of the most popular shopping complexes in the South Shore (hence the name) and hosts major names such as Macy’s, Nordstroms, Sears, Lord & Taylor, and Target. Not to mention all of the best brand names you could imagine!

So while Eric and I were perusing through the mall, we stopped by Banana Republic, which has a very nice selection of menswear. I’ve always welcomed the possibility of styling someone when the opportunity presents itself, and I was totally stoked! I took some pictures of some of the manikins that we saw that had a style that I thought would be so sharp – for any guy for that matter!

This is one of my favorite looks that I saw in the store, actually. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to document the sheer amount of style that manikin was exuding! Looking at this outfit, I had my boyfriend in mind, who is more on the leaner side and has a smaller frame. In terms of fit, if your guy is on the thinner side, I say go for clothes that are tailored and fitted to the body as much as possible. If you try to wear things that are too big or baggy it makes him look more like a blob than dashing. Another good tip that this manikin is exemplifying is the idea of tucking in the shirt and wearing a belt. This definition of the hips is PERFECT for creating a sharp, clean-cut look and really shows off your guy’s leaner frame.

Another major thing to think about in outfits is BALANCE. If you look here (you may not see very clearly in this photo) but as I felt the heather gray trousers, the legs had a lot of room and were not restricting in any way. In order to balance a looser pant, the manikin has a tighter, fitted dress shirt with a skinny black tie that really completes the look and makes your guy look sharp and clean-cut. Whenever you create a look, just remember…BALANCE BALANCE BALANCE!!!

Unfortunately this manikin did not have any legs to show some polished pants, so for now we’ll focus on the top of this look.

If you want your guy to have a very sophisticated, classic look, the V-neck sweater, collared shirt, and tie combo is a great direction to go in. In terms of this combination, make sure that the colors you are selecting work together as a team instead of working individually. That way, you create a different kind of balance. Not one of fit, but one of color and pattern.

Again, here is a look that is very similar to the first look with the collared shirt and the tie. The manikin (who rocks a skinnier frame) is accentuating his silhouette by wearing a more fitted collared shirt and pairing it with a looser, not as constricting khaki. Also…a nice belt helps to really complete the look! A khaki pant is a staple that I think all men should invest in. Especially a good pair that fits properly and is of good enough quality that it will last a long time. I also think that a good leather belt can also be added to this list (or even a faux one…no judgement!)

And the one piece in this outfit that is really the focal point here is that classy fedora. I for one LOVE when guys wear hats. And I don’t mean baseball caps. Seriously…they come in so many styles and colors and can really change the way your guy looks. In my mind, they give him some personality and tells me that he isn’t afraid to show off some style. If you want to experiment with hats, try to find one that is a neutral color, like black, gray, tan, or brown. That way, you can pair it with almost every outfit and can give you a lot of versatility.

Well, I hope you’ve enjoyed yet another boyfriend-themed post! These are quite fun, I have to admit. And besides, when you have such a nice model to work with, what’s more fun than that? 😉

The Updated Jasmine

Hello all! Here’s another outfit inspired by some of our favorite Disney princesses. Again, just to reiterate, these outfits are not supposed to copy the look to a tee, but are instead supposed to interpret the look in a way that encompasses the essence of the character while still maintaining elements of my own personal style.

Featured Shop: Athleta

One of my absolute favorite places to shop when I am in need of some new workout gear that is functional, and feminine, is Athleta.

Athleta is a brand affiliated with Gap that specializes in female athletic-wear. Similarly to their sister-sites (Gap.com, OldNavy.com, and BananaRepublic.com), their webpage is easy to navigate and allows to you to pinpoint exactly what you want to buy and offers you an in-depth list of details of each piece of clothing you are purchasing. Plus, super-fast shipping!

For me, I am looking for good-quality workout gear that is durable, comfortable, and above all else, fashionable! Just because you’re at the gym or on the court doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your appearance.

The following is a list of my favorite picks from the site. I enjoy a lot of different sports, running, rowing, tennis, yoga…so this list will include items from a lot of different categories. Enjoy!
